Not Home for the Holidays
Being away from their birth families creates stress for foster children during the holiday season, but thoughtful planning and preparation can help them cope with that stress and enjoy the holiday season. Respecting and including birth family traditions, and facilitating a child’s connection to ethnic/cultural celebrations as desired, are vital. Participants will learn to identify signs of grief and sadness, and how to establish a therapeutic and healing holiday environment for children and youth.
