Currently doing the online teaching class on canvas…
Edith Garnica Diaz
41:59
What about a stipend? Is that reported income?
Eddie Torres
43:22
Question…what if you work as a consultant outside of your teaching assignment?
Vivian Lam
44:01
How do we determine how much we earned in a week? Our pay stub is just the monthly total, but my hours varied due to a class ending, and I haven’t received paystub either.
Michael
45:33
...almost impossible...
Eddie Torres
53:34
but the consultant work is under a EIN # and not my SS#?
Mihyung Kim
55:31
But for full time instructors have reasonable assurance to return to work in Fall
Vivian Lam
55:33
So we add up all of our monthly paystubs from beginning to end contract date, then divide by 20?
Vivian Lam
56:09
Total contract pay / 20 = weekly pay
SLB
56:12
We're determining the gross amount of weekly pay. Correct?
Vivian Lam
56:17
How do we get our last paystub?
Sandra
56:45
One college pay distribution does not match the last date I worked. I had to go to court to dispute this. I cannot reach payroll to find out what their pay distribution is so it does not conflict with my last date worked. Any suggestions?
nila's iPad
56:50
full timers have Summers off
Eddie Torres
57:00
Ok thanks
Vivian Lam
57:37
I came in 10 minutes late - can we get these slides emailed to us?
SLB
57:55
I'm not an attorney. So, I can't give you legal advice. But if you are paying employment taxes from your work as a consultant under your EIN, you may be able to get unemployment insurance. But please check with an attorney or other representative.
Vivian Lam
58:20
Do we take Total GROSS or Total AMOUNT after taxes and deductions?
Mihyung Kim
58:57
Vivian, gross!
Mihyung Kim
59:15
Just curious why we are dividing by 20 instead of 16. Don’t we work 16 weeks?
Grace Chee
59:32
Vivian, always gross
Vivian Lam
01:00:07
gee thanks, i’ve been showering daily :P
Sandy Schneidewind
01:00:48
If today was my last day can I use this date as the last day of my assignment, even though the finals week is not over?
nila's iPad
01:00:57
it will be so helpful if the questions are addressed at the end
Vivian Lam
01:01:43
Regarding hours in last week worked: Monday was a holiday, so instead of 6 hours I worked 3 hours. This was also after another class had ended, when I typically worked for 8 hours in a week.
Vivian Lam
01:01:57
Do I put 3, 6, or 8 hours?
Jerry
01:02:52
this is what they are telling CSU adjuncts
Jerry
01:03:04
the last day of classes is your official end date
Christian Coulter
01:04:19
Last year EDD called me and told me that I need to use the same date that the district uses as the LAST DAY OF THE SEMESTER
Jordan cantillano
01:04:20
So as a full timer would it be worth to apply?
Michael
01:06:48
...interesting...I've always use my last final day and have never had a question from EDD...
Sandy Schneidewind
01:07:05
Now, more confused than ever….what is my last day…last day of classes, finals or semester?
Michael
01:07:30
I used last final exam date...
Jerry
01:07:30
June 1st
Eddie Torres
01:07:31
Jordan…I don’t think so unless you don’t have a FT position waiting for you in the fall
Jerry
01:07:48
June 1st is the last day of official meeting
Jerry
01:07:57
supposedly
Glenn
01:08:40
Anthony said use the last day of your last final.
Sandy Schneidewind
01:08:53
I’m an adjunct.
Jordan cantillano
01:09:47
thanks
Al Kami
01:10:17
So the last date of our semester is 6/8/20
Christian Coulter
01:10:56
How to we deal with a pre’planned vacation this summer. If we have a planned trip, even out of the country before. Do we wait until we return to apply for benefits or do we simply skip that week(s)? thanks!
Jerry
01:11:28
go with Anthony
Jerry
01:11:48
my apologies
Glenn
01:12:28
Anthony You said because we stated late use last day of finals because we started late ?????? so which finals or last day of semesters
SLB
01:14:20
As an adjunct who does not work the same amount of hours each week, how do I calculate hours?
Sandy Schneidewind
01:14:50
benefit is for last 12 months or just this year?
Prof. A. Garamvolgyi
01:19:19
Anthony what is your contact info.?
Sandra
01:20:53
Anthony, what is your contact Information?
Al Kami
01:21:52
You can not file your claim until AFTER you last date worked (6/8/2020) - next week...
Al Kami
01:22:28
I'm doing it right now - and it gives an error and you can not continue
drh
01:23:19
FYI - I have applied twice in the past and had to go through a lot to “prove” my worthiness…I had to be interviewed on both applications…I was denied for one because the guy called and I didn’t answer the phone…well, I was on the freeway driving…I appealed and talked to a judge and she approved…so, its a process and you have to stay the course
Michael
01:24:06
...true!!!
drh
01:24:31
I also had to take unemployment classes for career guidance, etc
Christian Coulter
01:24:36
How to we deal if we have different colleges with different ens dates THIS semester
nila's iPad
01:24:53
thank you Anthony. How soon will we get the screenshots for the actual form. I’d need to submit this evening and would appreciate getting them Lavasanm@wlac.edu
Jerry
01:25:02
are you allowed to meet with EDD?
drh
01:25:46
When I had to talk to the judge, it was over the phone…I;ve never been face to face except when I had to come to the numerous classes and orientation…
Christopher's iPad
01:25:48
apply right away last
Michael
01:26:13
...pls see Al Kami's observation...interesting...
drh
01:26:21
Good luck getting someone to answer the phone
Glenn
01:26:37
So are you free this weekend if we have questions ???
nila's iPad
01:26:42
specific question: there is a question on the form, date of interruption of employment and also if unemployed as a result of disaster. How to answer
Al Kami
01:26:43
error message: "Last Date Worked" cannot be a future date. So on the last date - file.
Eddie Torres
01:26:45
question…if I teach at PCC and my final is on 6/11 but at LATTC was 6/5 when do you suggest I apply for benefits?
judith castro
01:26:55
thank you so much for this information Anthony
Christopher's iPad

SLB
01:30:21
Does the form ask you how many hours do you work per week? If so, how do you answer that as an adjunct who does not work a set number of hours each week?
Al Kami
01:33:19
I always list what is shown on my paystub
Al Kami
01:33:33
hrs = 3 for usual class
SLB
01:34:09
Okay. So, I had 3 classes at 3 hours each. So, I would report 9 hours per week? Correct?
Sandy Schneidewind
01:34:26
Do you include Social Security payments in gross income?
Sandy Schneidewind
01:35:46
Am I even eligible for EDD if I receive Social Security?
Al Kami
01:35:58
SLB - you can not go wrong using the numbers that HR has in the computer
SLB
01:36:24
THANK YOU!!! I appreciate your response.
Edith Garnica Diaz
01:36:47
Thank you. This workshop is very helpful.
Al Kami

SLB
01:37:08

Al Kami
01:37:08
