DSPS services are still available for students.
kristinplatts

Are we going to be able to take math 911 or a math with a lab during the summer?
Monique Gonzalez-Tatman

Is the transfer center still available to us, but via zoom?
Nancy Carranza - Ramirez

Bertha

It affected me, My internet runs slow at home and now with my children at home it is more slow, because I have to be connected via zoom, while they are watching else in their room. And it is difficult because sometimes their teachers ask to them to be connected on google classroom while I am connected.
Carlos

connor

Lab's are tough it's okay they take a long time
kristinplatts
27:23
Two of my classes were already online. But my two f2f classes have adapted to online quite well, in my opinion. I’m a COMM major and speeches on Zoom will be a challenge, but I feel like our professors are really trying so hard to address these challenges.

The book store wasn't supposed to close until 3pm on that last week and I went to get a book i really needed but they weren't even open at all that day when they weren't supposed to shut down fully until Monday the 23rd so idk what happened with that but how are we going to be able to get books now? Especially since summer classes are set up to be online too and we're gonna need books. And i really need this particular book before the end of the semester. Anyone able to touch on that at whatever point is appropriate in the meeting please and thank you🙏
connor
29:57
MJC should default students grades to P/NP with the option of switching to a letter grade if needed. Berkeley did this because of the decline in academic instruction.
Bertha
30:10
Teachers should stick to the schedules of class, and understand that with children at home sometimes will be difficult to connect. Yesterdey I had to join one meeting and it interfeers with other class schedule, I request them to record the meeting, and they did, but at the end the teacher explained that she won.t post the entire meeting. Only small parts and upon request by email. I think that every meeting should be posted.
Rebecca Sandoval
30:33
Good idea Connor that would be something to pass along to the administration
halimarahimi

Hi Matthew, campus is completely closed at the moment so teachers can not ask you to come to campus. Possibly check in to see if there is another way you can turn your assignment in.

Nancy Carranza - Ramirez
38:55
You should email your professor to see if you can send pictures of the assignment or scan it to them. He should find a way to work around the fact that you can't make it to campus; since it is closed.
Kellie Greene
39:09
I have been pleased with the amount of communications from the college and professors
jennifernovoa

Academic integrity with online exams is nonexistent. Students collaborating on exams puts everyone at a disadvantage with regards to the curve.
Madison Wingate
40:51
I’m all online and my teachers were pretty “business as usual” so it doesn’t take into consideration that I just need a little more time. just because it was already online doesn’t mean there arent outside difficulties. I think I’ve had one teacher extend a deadline but I had one teacher just say everyone is suffering so you still have to get your work done.
Robert Garcia
40:51
Is anyone looking for volunteer work? Because other students in the collaborative meeting were. If so, The Modesto Gospel Mission is open for volunteer work. They also have a children center if you would like to work with youths.
Stephanie Diaz

Hi Robert Garcia. I am looking for volunteer work. Thank you for sharing that.

I have emailed my teacher. her response was to send us two videos on "grit" and this is for a math class! I get pushing on when it's hard but this situation is way different! I'm so scared and stressed I'm even talking to an online counselor cuz I'm falling apart!!

I think MJC and professors have really done a great job considering there hasn’t been a situation like this. I think having a forum like this is going to make things even better. Things are certainly not ideal right now, I am struggling with some things but I feel like it will be addressed. Thank you for doing this.

I’ve taken research methods with Newman-if this makes anyone feel better, I had all this pressure for my research to be significant but at the end of it, no ones research turned out right so we focused on the flaws and where we could’ve improved and how much we learned about how hard research is and well my group all passed. I hope she is accommodating to you but if she isn’t, she was aware they most people’s research was going to have mistakes and she just wanted us to understand that. it took a lot of the pressure off when I saw that everyone’s research had “mistakes”
