I see the term Pathway and Academy used somewhat interchangeably. I know that CPAs are clearly “Academies,” but where can we find clear definitions of a CTE Pathway versus a Career Academy?

Question about CALPADS: What suggestions do you have for supporting districts in making sure they are coding CTE classes correctly?

Thanks for this explanation of the CTE standards, can you share what the expectation is to teach the other stsandards, ie ELA, Math, HSS, NGSS, etc?

UCCI courses are all a-g approved and are considered program status so easily added to the UC course list

CTE courses are seen by counselors as a place to put students to fill their schedules

Ditto to finding credentialed teachers and on the flip side of that coin, having teachers whose pathways could stand to be replaced, but those teachers cannot be replaced and don’t want to change what they are teaching

A lot of responsibilities and time to create a new pathway is put on the teacher only with little or no help from CTE admin/support roles, during busy instructional year

What makes no sense is someone with a Single Subject Credential trying to get a CTE credential having to take a mandatory methods course

What about the other way around CTE credential to single subject? What does that process look like. The LEAs with CTE pay scales are different than single subject pay scales

Does teaching college count for the education experience, or does it need to be at the high school level?

We had someone get a CTE credential whose experience was nursing in the 1970's haha

Local colleges might be a good resource, vendors can be helpful, as well as industry organizations might freely offer support

We include our district's risk management department in the conversation, too.

Another tip . . . If you buy any tech, go through the district IT dept first to approve the equipment.
