Lisa
33:49
Jeff, can you share your Powerpoint? Thanks.
Jeff Karlsen
34:15
yes - slides will be shared along with the recording.
Lisa
34:44
Many thanks.
Cathy Cox
35:09
On the wiki? Or emailed out to the list?
Jeff Karlsen
35:23
wiki -- just a moment I'll get the link

Katrina Rahn
36:32
omg - love this!
Norman Buchwald
39:20
Good "tweaking" of labels. ;)
Cathy Cox
39:50
How well does that Loan Period label reflect exceptions?
Amy Brinkley
40:18
testing our Zoom skills!
Amy Brinkley
40:36
Cathy, do you mean exceptions to items with different terms of use?
Erin Fletcher
41:23
Does anyone have experience with adding custom script to the .js file to include a library help chat box to Primo? I've verified with LibraryH3lp that the code in the .js file is correct. But when I upload the zipped folder with the js script in it, it just... doesn't appear. I've tried it in both Primo Studio and in Alma.
Amy Brinkley
41:55
@Erin -- yes, though ours is for LibAnswers chat box
Amy Brinkley
42:16
at the end of this presentation we include a link to our customization package
Adina Lerner
42:57
Argh.
Lauren McFall
42:59
@Erin, I can concur that adding JS isn't always straightforward
Cathy Cox
43:01
Erin, please email me later- no answers, but we also use LibraryH3lp. Catherine-cox@redwoods.edu
Erin Fletcher
43:05
Okay. I guess I was wondering if anyone else had had the experience of uploading a package to Primo Studio or Alma and not seeing changes reflected.
Erin Fletcher
43:09
Thanks, Cathy!
Adina Lerner
44:49
Yes. We have the LibraryH3lp working. https://caccl-glendale.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01CACCL_GLENDALE:GLENDALE
Lauren McFall
44:55
@Erin, Absolutely, I would have to revisit what we did to finally get it working for us
Stephanie Roach
44:58
@Erin We had a problem by not adding a function at the end of the file. Try adding this to the end of your custom.js file: }) ();
Erin Fletcher
46:08
This is great advice, everyone. I will send out an email to LibraryH3lp people after this webinar. Thank you.
Amy Brinkley
47:20
"if not mobile, then..."
Linda Kobashigawa
49:58
This is VERY helpful!
Jeff Karlsen
53:11
Yes @Stephanie, that was kind of shocking -- custom.js was missing the final () that allows the js to actually execute
Jeff Karlsen
54:22
direct quote: "there's a lot of clicking"
Becka Cooling
54:27
what is your mechanism for reporting errors? Primo does not have a built in bad-link reporter, correct?
Tom Stough
54:32
If "Link 1" is "bad", will the system jump to "Link 2", etc.?
Jeff Karlsen
55:05
@Tom, unfortunately no. It is possible to rank link sources if you know that some are better than others.
Tom Stough
55:19
Thx, Jeff.
Stephanie Rosenblatt
55:27
@Jeff I put in a ticket and they told me they were going to fix that
Ken Lin
55:28
is this Institution level setting?
Jeff Karlsen
55:59
@Becka we wrote an AngularJS component for a problem report -- it leads to a php file that pre-fills some info and then emails to a LibAnswers queue
Dana Young
56:19
@Stephanie.They will fix for your library or for all?
Norman Buchwald
56:24
We did direct link for half a day (around December/January) and found broken links happening as a result way too often at the time. We haven't revisited it.
Becka Cooling
56:56
thanks Jeff
Stephanie Rosenblatt
56:58
I asked about ranking full text sources in the link resolver in May. Was told that customization was broken and would be fixed over summer.
Jeff Karlsen
57:20
@Stephanie, yes it was broken, and it did get fixed (June release I think)
Alex Chappell
57:24
@Ken, yes --- direct linking is at institution level -- all LACCD libraries would have to want the change
Stephanie Rosenblatt
57:33
:)
Lauren Saslow
57:57
I think we should try it @ LACCD
Dorothy Fuhrmann
58:12
Yes LACCD
Alex Chappell
58:33
I do to, but should look at how links are ranked
Lisa
58:40
Ok
Alex Chappell
59:08
and this is a big enough change that discovery group for @laccd should discuss and get feedback from libraries before deciding on the change
Coastline Elizabeth
59:15
Show us more stuff please!
Jonathon Lee
01:00:31
So, all these modifications from css modifications to direct linking, if they affect one campus in a multi-campus district, they'll affect all of them?
Alex Chappell
01:00:45
not all of them
Amy Brinkley
01:00:51
@Jonathan -- not all
Amy Brinkley
01:00:56
The direct linking, yes
Amy Brinkley
01:01:04
But all of the CSS changes can be configured at the view level
Norman Buchwald
01:01:14
The citation generator-- there are issues on how they handle a record that comes up in Primo that's "not traditional" such as a reference book entry. I understand if they can't correctly include the electronic resource part of a citation (database/vendor, date accessed, etc.) but when they are totally off like a reference book entry and other types of resources that Primo "gets" in their indexing, I'm concerned and have debated having it turned off outright.
Jonathon Lee
01:01:15
thx
Alex Chappell
01:01:32
labels are at the institution level, though, right?
Amy Brinkley
01:01:40
That's correct
Alex Chappell
01:01:46
thanks, Amy
Kellye Cohn
01:02:03
This could be an entire presentation :)
Lauren McFall
01:02:34
@Norman, I think you have to weigh how many more times that citation generator is going to help rather than hinder
cecilia hui
01:03:22
Hi Jeff, do we need know if the elements come from AngularJS or just pure CSS?
cecilia hui
01:03:50
The session is very helpful where we could apply right away. thanks.
Lauren McFall
01:05:03
have you had any success including elements like heat maps?
Lauren McFall
01:05:08
to get feedback?
Amy Brinkley
01:05:14
Please give Jeff a reason to present on Angular JS!
Stephanie Roach
01:05:22
I would love a session on AngularJS!
Brooke Ramos
01:05:28
I have a question on the Physical Item Not Available label. Does changing to “checked out” affect items that are not available to check out (for example, our reference collection)?
Julian Prentice
01:05:40
We want AngularJS!
Lori Lisowski
01:05:41
Do these configurations "stick" when Ex Libris puts out product updates or do you have to re-do them when there's an upgrade?
Amy Brinkley
01:06:04
@Brooke -- good question. Hang on so I can give you an accurate response :)
Lauren McFall
01:07:05
@Lori, in theory, all customization package items should remain the same. Unfortunately, I've noticed things that were working the way I expected before change recently. Very frustrating.
cecilia hui
01:07:23
The report a problem feature is very nice.
Becka Cooling
01:07:25
Very cool
Jonathon Lee
01:07:57
Jeff, not to labor the issue right now, but can you explain where angular js plugs in to the Alma coding? we have the css file, for example, but where would the Angular JS sript reside? alongside the CSS? within it?
Amy Brinkley
01:08:49

Cathy Cox
01:09:55
What if an exception is created to the TOU for an item?
Rachel Sandoval
01:10:08
Couldn’t get here earlier. Will a recording link be sent out?
Brooke Ramos
01:10:08
@Amy - Thanks! Yes, I remember this being complicated when we configured our labels
Amy Brinkley
01:10:25
Yes, Rachel :)
Cathy Cox
01:10:49
@Rachel - yes - in the Wiki. Jeff posted the link earlier.
Megan Kinney
01:10:55

Jonathon Lee
01:12:01
thanks Jeff
Alex Chappell
01:12:03
re: displaying loan period in your primo -- is that something that is configured at the institution or view level?
Rachel Sandoval
01:12:33
Thanks, all!
Amy Brinkley
01:12:47
@Alex, I believe fulfillment terms of use can be configured and applied at the library level
Amy Brinkley
01:12:54
the label is at the instution level
Alex Chappell
01:13:15
yes
Alex Chappell
01:13:20
displaying it at all
Alex Chappell
01:13:44
ours doesn't show up
Coastline Elizabeth
01:13:49
I know this is silly, but on the main primo search page how did you change the color of the search icon in the main search bar?
Alex Chappell
01:14:02
so I was wondering if that was hidden by default or across the institution or by accident :)
Amy Brinkley
01:14:26
@Elizabeth, I believe this will show in our customization package. We've tried to be very good about commenting in the code
cecilia hui
01:14:32
thats great, thanks you.
Coastline Elizabeth
01:14:46
Thanks Amy!
Kellye Cohn
01:15:01
