Thank You STeve!!!
Carol Tsushima
44:06
Same question for the faculty development weeks?
Larry McLaughlin
46:00
For Steve: I see that a number of people watching represent or advocate for multiple career education disciplines. Can you talk a little about how IT education crosses over into these disciplines and how they can best integrate it in programs?
Susanne Mata
58:30
We will do a Q & A after the discussion but if you have questions, feel free to type them in the chat.
Argenis Jasso
01:24:15
How do us(people in CA,) compete with the rest of country when employers can pay less for out of state remote employees?
James Burk
01:26:51
How likely is a person, who is much older and switching to a new career in the IT industry, to get hired. Are their years of experience taken into account, or is the main focus on certifications and IT experience?
Susanne Mata
01:27:39
Great questions. We will make sure they get addressed.
Roland (Tripp) Doepner
01:38:25
While it is not our focus today, it is interesting to think about groups who build & lease office space. It seems that there could be a glut of office real estate as many businesses reduce their office-work footprints.
Susanne Mata
01:39:11
That is an interesting observation Roland
Brandon Lopez
01:42:39
For the speakers: What do you look for in terms of technical skills and soft skills?
Jenni Huter
01:46:16
We teach our students to speak up for their physical safety/health in the workplace, but it is good to hear that we need to be teaching them to also speak up for their mental and social emotional health, as well.
Susanne Mata
01:49:04
Jenni - I think that is very important and more relevant than ever. The past year has certainly increased social and mental health issues.
Jenni Huter
01:51:08
Agreed, Susanne!
Susanne Mata
01:52:55
That is great info from Patrick!
Michael Caress
01:53:15
Are you seeing cross-over certification or digital badges between the technical subsector that seems well-prescribed and digital media?
Jennifer McDaniel
01:53:28
Do you see, with this huge influx/need for Cybersecurity positions, a modification with experience requirements for new employees? Do you see them lowering the requirement?
Steve Massa
01:55:41
Great discussion. How do you see blockchains increasing in importance throughout your organizations and what skills will junior workers need to know. Obviously cybersecurity will continue to play a critical role.
Yui.Shin
01:56:24
I agree with David T. that CompTIA should require a prerequisite of network training prior to earning the Security+ certification. This could be implemented by a recognized waiver list. For example, my MCSE surpasses the Network+ training.
Michael Caress

Do any of the experts have a comments on this ecommerce / media trend. What we may need to address in training or services? According to estimates by HSBC and Qianhai Securities, livestreaming is expected to generate up to 20% of China’s total e-commerce sales by 2022, up from 10% in 2020.Chinese live video platforms such as Kuaishou and Bytedance are quickly adding commerce features, while e-commerce leaders such as Alibaba and JD.com have both ramped up their livestreaming efforts in the past year, including a push from Alibaba’s AliExpress in Western Europe.Following China’s lead, livestreaming is slowly gaining traction in North America as well.

I'd ;like to hear more about that, David -- data visualization
Susanne Mata
02:07:11
I will go back to the questions in the chat at the end. I don't want to interrupt the conversation
Susanne Mata
02:09:01
Although, I think David is doing a good job monitoring the chat. Seems like he is addressing the questions.
Michael Caress
02:13:04
Excellent, Stephen.... we need to make sure we are no over promising students telling them they can get a mid-level job while also giving them early opportunities in the academic career to get into the field.
