Andrea Hanstein | CVC

@Janet, your president is a presenter!
Jim Julius (he/him)
33:13
CCLC also provides the service for templates for Board Policies and Administrative Procedures that many colleges subscribe to. (Relevant to the latter part of today’s meeting).

Monica Ambalal
45:11
Just want to make sure that we are able to cross-badge a class at another college? Didn’t understand fully what he said.
Katie Datko
45:31
Thanks, Marina and Bob!
Marina Aminy
45:39
Thank you! I hope you all have a great weekend!
Carol Impara
46:01
Are badges or certificates issued with the @ONE courses?
Monica Ambalal
46:29
Carol typically we have received badges from @one.
Bob Nash
46:40
@Monica. The answer is yes. If an instructor aligns their course at one college and is teaching the same course at another college, they can get that course badged as well. The trick is, it needs to be the same course. Since some colleges have different CORs, that is not always the case.
Bob Nash
46:52
Feel free to email me for more details: bnash@cvc.edu
Bob Nash
47:46
@Carol: Participants receive an @ONE badge for successfully completing any of our facilitated courses.
Joanna Miller
48:06
It’s the .pdf on title 5 rather than the slide deck. Slide deck will be ready soon.
Erin Larson
49:01
We are getting the Nov. 7 resources remediated for posting. We will share it with DECO when ready.
Piper Rooney
49:14
Thank you!
Bob Nash
49:34
For those interested, here is our Independent Course Alignment website (in production): https://onlinenetworkofeducators.org/independent-course-alignment-program/
Joanna Miller
50:06
@Erin and Justine, thank you.
Lisa Beach
51:02
I think our college was the last one to not subscribe - we're now one of the cool kids so I think that makes 100% in CCLC!
Carol Impara
53:43
@Bob-thank you
Janith
56:51
Does that mean that new DE Addendum is required?
Tracy Schaelen (she/her)
58:34
We are all going to have soooo many documents to update . . .
Saša Stojić
58:52
↑ this
Lisa Beach
58:58
@Tracy - no kidding!
Piper Rooney
59:22
Thank you for sharing your AP4105, Jim. We relied on your AP heavily at GCC.
Jennifer Kienzle
59:24
I love that chart. I would love the borrow that design.
Jennifer Kienzle
59:35
Flow chart envy for sure
Ying Liu
59:36
Thanks Jim. Agree with Piper, love the chart!
Brett Myhren
59:46
Yes! Cascading is the perfect term.
Brett Myhren
59:56
Thanks, Jim!
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:00:31
The chart is in the Google Slide deck for today, so feel free to borrow/adapt once we share it!
Dave Dillon (he him his)
01:00:46
Thanks Jim!
Janet Mitchell-Lambert
01:02:21
We spent last year doing that with our delivery modes. It was a lot of work!
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:02:23
Note also, my chart slide does have active links to most of the documents that I shaed.
Jennifer Kienzle
01:02:58
Thank you, Jim!
Janet Mitchell-Lambert
01:03:19
How useful!
Piper Rooney
01:04:15
Yes! That distinction is really useful!
Joanna Sobala
01:04:29
Is there a specific definition of a hybrid mode in title 5 or elsewhere in legislation?
Steve Lipman
01:04:43
Is there any regulatory language defining "Hybrid"? Doesn't at least some of the course have to be in-person?
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:05:26
No regulatory language about modality definitions, other than that a DE class is over 50% online.
Steve Lipman
01:06:16
I thought that that if ANY part of the course is online, it is coded as "DE".
Piper Rooney
01:06:33
Steve, that was our understanding, too. 1% to 99%
Steve Lipman
01:06:34
I thought the 50% rule was just normative.
Steve Lipman
01:06:52
That's what we were told last meeting.
Joanna Miller
01:06:59
Here is the link to DECO’s Google doc with links to Jim’s and Tracy’s DE BPs and APs. Please add if you have a new policy, procedure, or RSI policies or procedures. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11wdcTTWzVEgv0ysdF1OGms9J7wlz1zYtZ4MErYFRFu0/edit?usp=sharing
Janet Mitchell-Lambert
01:07:08
Thanks, Joanna!
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:07:54
Any part of a class that is DE is subject to DE standards. But you only code a course as DE if it’s over 50% online. That has been past practice for CCCs - Erin, can you confirm if that’s still the case?
Suzanne Wakim
01:09:57
Who provides input to the League for their template APs? Can we propose this as a good template 😁
Piper Rooney
01:10:10
“Opt out” makes so much more sense!
Ali Olson-Pacheco, Ventura College
01:10:14
YES!
Katie Datko
01:10:18
^Yes, Suzanne!
Joy
01:10:31
This is great! Thank you :)
Sharon Elizabeth Oxford
01:10:38
Thank you
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:10:42
The League just does minimal requirements based on their legal analysis as the basis for their templates
Magda
01:10:46
Thank you very much.
Ying Liu
01:11:05
Thank you Tracy!
Suzanne Wakim
01:12:14
As someone new to creating APs, do folks recommend starting with the League's content? Or, is that not generally necessary to hit requirements?
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:13:03
At MiraCosta we have an internal distinction between “DE Hybrids” (51-99% online) and “Non-DE Hybrids” (1-50% online) - these are separated out on our data dashboards.
Erica Menchaca
01:13:41
Is the MIS reporting what determines apportionment? or is that another definition?
Mike Smedshammer, Modesto JC
01:13:46
If any portion of a course is online, it's funded under the Alternative Accounting Method for apportionment. But what's not clear to is what counts as "online" in CCCO Data Mart. Erin, can you clarify for us?
Brett Myhren
01:14:13
I agree with Steve. Having a fully online class with some synchronous elements does not seem like a “hybrid” class. It’s confusing if hybrid is typically understood to include some in-person element.
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:14:17
@Suzanne definitely do refer to the League’s template as a starting point. But also look at other college’s examples.
Sam Aunai
01:14:40
two different things. DE is anything with DE offering. For purposes of MIS reporting is different. shouldn't confuse the two
Joanna Miller
01:14:40
Erin, could you please clarify about the 50% rule?
Brett Myhren
01:14:47
This is one reason why terminology is such a crazy soup.
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:15:09
absolutely
Jim Julius (he/him)
01:15:12
Bret!
Piper Rooney
01:15:35
