Good morning everyone, and thank you for holding this meeting. Exciting stuff!!
Diane Walker
01:36:08
Allie, is there any thought of "cross-walking" this with the K12SWP mapping?
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:36:37
For noncredit courses, would the development of MIS data points be created, so that this making can take place that way?
Diane Walker
01:36:44
Really complex, I'm sure!
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:36:57
sorry for the typo!!
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:37:55
When we create courses in COCI, we could add data elements that align with Allie’s work so they are coded in COCI and MIS as well, and then we could map these via LaunchBoard, MIS.
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:38:41
Got it! Thank you, Randy (and hi!)
Randy Tillery
01:41:44
You have the ability in MIS to code courses with SOC Codes in addition to CIP and TOPS codes which makes this easier.

It is possible to crosswalk this with traditional K12 pathways, but the student journeys are differing in important ways. The K12 SWP mapping presumes a fairly straight journey from K12 into higher ed and then careers where Adult Ed journeys have many more starts and stops and includes a lot more skill building that may not be clearly in a pathway. Also the targets for adult ed CTE includes entry level as well as middle skill jobs all of which needs to be accounted for in any kind of mapping that can reasonably inform stronger pathway conversations.
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:46:37
Is it possible to blow up the page? Make it larger?
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:47:01
awesome!!
Diane Walker
01:47:21
Thanks, Randy - just thinking about how in our district, we do let students know what adult ed offerings are available and how they relate to our academies and pathways - possible on-ramps/off-ramps depending upon their circumstances. :)
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:49:02
Diane: The AHC CAEP consortium is working on a collaborative class schedule to be sent via USPS. It will include the courses and services provided by partners, plus services provided by related agencies. It’s our very first, but I hope it will become a regular practice for our consortium.
Diane Walker
01:49:34
Wonderful, Sofia - sounds like a great resource!

Pre-covid LMI?
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:50:18
COVID opened our eyes as to the needs and how to effectively market what we offer inner service area.
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:50:48
not inner, “in our service area”.
Marina Washburn
01:51:00
Can the microregion be filtered further by smaller regions?
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:51:11
I can’t wait to play with this dashboard!!
Diane Walker
01:51:21
Agree, Marina
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:52:54
??? - Once I get a report, how do I go about saving it, downloading it, or printing it?
Blaire Toso
01:52:57
It is fun to filter and see how courses populate as you refine the fields. Really provides excellent visuals of gaps and well defined pathways. You can think about how middle skill and self sufficiency wages map to below middle skill, etc.
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi
01:55:23
@Blaire: agreed!
Randy Tillery
01:56:02
I've noticed that adult ed is often a pathway for students in the Alternative Ed universe. Also I know a lot of adult schools have very mature occupational pathways in areas like LVN, Surgical Tech, or Medical Assisting. Where HS students really just want to focus employment as their first step these are very valuable options.

02:01:53
@Randy: I echo what you said, Randy/ Not all HS students want to attend college right off the bat. Their universe is about finding a livable wage job to help with the family. As we work toward inclusion and equity across all CCCs, we need to be open to the many journeys students have.
Sofia Ramirez Gelpi

How could you use this dashboard to inform the regional Strong Workforce plan? How could you use it to strengthen student transitions among the partners in your breakout room ?What are 2 or 3 action steps that come from this discussion?https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vSGxbWc6KEG_0dYRDkLlNNFv3yWGUoP_UYGhtbN9n_k/edit

I know MC will want to be in the workgroup. Not sure if I or another member of our team would be most helpful. Add me for now and I will circle back with Robert and the team.
