Who can see your viewing activity?
I don’t see anything or hear anything
I/m going to try and re-enter and see if that helps
Did anyone ever get this to work??
I still have no visual or sound. Can anyone suggest something. I emailed Miguel
I have a visual but no sound; since it's prior to starting time, I assumed no one was speaking.
I have only this chat as the visual and no sound.
Mai Soua Lee

Delmar, Will LibreText hold workshops on our college campuses?
Thank you, Delmar! Your work is awesome!
Yes, we are excited to do that.
Thanks, Delmar! I learn something new every time you present.
We love OER Commons (and Libretexts) in Wisconsin! We just opened up a higher ed specific hub on our K-12 sponsored microsite. A little more about that story: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1GanJLCwSrYBac2_5l6b3Az_TRKgmyDNfJu-RJSV2Nws/edit#slide=id.gc6f75fceb_0_0
“Admins” of groups/hub include faculty, staff, and deans. They are the folks who can approve postings.
@steel - great
It was a great example of K-20 collaboration across the state. Had not previously happened in the state, but we’re hoping that collaborating on open projects can provide a healthy model for educators working together for common good.
Happy to have Barbara Illowski joining us today! She has been an advocate of OER for many years, co-authored the OpenStax Statistics OER textbook, is math faculty at DeAnza College and is the recipient of the inaugural Michelson OER and Innovation Fellowship. Welcome Barbara!
How do you use the accessibility checker?
@Dave - Thanks! I’m so happy to be here and learn. We’re also VERY EXCITED about the new CCC hub so that faculty at every CCC can upload their own content without needing Canvas or having a personal website.
IT’s free to create an OER acct. https://www.oercommons.org/
For each college’s hub, we’re trying to get the OERi Coordinator, DE Coord and librarians to be the colleges’ group admins. That way, those people get to approve who can upload materials. It’s much smoother.
Can these modules also be uploaded into Canvas or other LMS?
Can you upload a pdf that’s OER and then remix
@sheila - YES
What made you decide to create your own platform instead of (for example) affiliating with libretext?
LibreText was a Chem Wiki when OER Commons started
@melinda/Mindy - THANKS!!!
In case you’d like to see/explore any the links or content in what I’ll be share, the slides are available here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1HrQyjKRwxJFDtXz7ynjL6tNrLFofVG3pht6A89C01lU/edit#slide=id.g485a8822da_0_0
My pleasure, Barbara, thanks! Questions about PDFs and LMS: PDFs are notorious for for remixing, and you can copy/paste, but it takes some effort. You can access resources from OERC on your LMS using an LTI integration. Let me know if you need more info: email@example.com
@sheila - if you are using any of the OpenStax OER, the OEI created Canvas shells for every transfer-level OpenStax text. Go into Canvas Commons and search “CCC OEI OER” to get them to the top.
Steel, would be interested in seeing how the new Module EPUBs would work on Pressbooks import!
Are you planning or do you have a video recording feature (I noticed you have an audio recording function)?
Is this a free platform?
@Steel - great info about Pressbooks. Thanks!
For Californina CC's, host videos with 3C Media
OERC Authoring tool allows users to upload videos which are hosted on Kaltura.
Very helpful! Thanks. Will you have a link to a recording of the webinar?
Same w/ Pressbooks. We used Kaltura at Wisconsin and embedded videos in Pressbooks much like you might with Youtube or Vimeo
What kind of training is available for any of these three options?
I dont' have questions - I'm just absorbing
What program creates and EPUB?
It was terrific info but I think training is critical
What type of efforts are being made to coordinate the various efforts
Mai Soua Lee
Thank you for the abundance of resources and information. Excited for OER!
Thanks for all the info!
We have self-paced documents in our guide: https://guide.pressbooks.com/ and videos at https://www.youtube.com/user/pressbooks/videos
Will there be any online training for faculty?
Will a recording of this webinar be posted?
We also provide network manager training and other support for institutions that host their networks with us
Did you see my training question,?
I just received OER Commons admin rights and have many questions who should I contact?
We produce EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 exports now
Any efforts to coordinate all these efforts...seems we are all working in the smae direction??
thanks for the info guys...we have some excellent efforts happening here in California...
Maybe I missed it, but can the contact information and presenters' information be posted here all together or on lbcc.edu website ?
Multitasking here. Could we have all of the email addresses included in the chat?
Mindy Boland (OER Commons): firstname.lastname@example.org
Big publishers have more or less abandoned the traditional textbook in favor of 'courseware'
So that’s our next battle
If we all switch to open, then the mergers and buy-outs won’t affect our students.
In our CS dept we are overloaded as instructors...so the courseware is a BIG thing to help us survive
Thank you, Dave, for doing such an amazing job on moving OER forward! YOU EOCK
most of us teach 7 or 8 courses persemester
Yes this really helped.
Katherine (Kitty) Luce
Love to hear and learn - passing this info along to campus
@Dave - THANKS for coordinating this terrific webinar.
Great Platform intro; many thanks!
MORE COFFEE...gotta go
Thank you all!
I’m at email@example.com
Yes, that's what I wanted to know.
That would be good.
Yes, that would be great - one email with all contacts
Thank you, Delmar, Mindy, and Steel!
Hi All - so sorry - I lost my connection - hope all ended well - thanks again to all the presenters and participants!
If you want to know more about a hosted PressbooksEDU instance, you can contact my colleague Liz Mays at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks a lotDelmar, Mindy, and Steel!
i think that’s the right email?
