Scheduling issues and parents

@Sarah- yes, we were just talking about that!

Room 9 agreed master schedule and counselor awareness were critical concerns. Credentialing and admin support were related obstacles.

Fitting CTE into schedules of students- especially those involved in sports/arts/extra curricular

The push toward a Bachelors Degree attainment instead of the value of a career pathway.

Room 7: Messaging that 4year college is for all students; Master Schedule. Making sure that the pathways match the labor market. Students placed in classes they didn't choose.

From Group #11, the following were mentioned (but note the last item was not brought up, but it could have an impact on students' schedules' flexibility: Biggest challenges in getting students into Pathways…>University focus>Limits in class options at some high schools>EL students need to take those classes>SPED is under-represented>Other conflicts in master schedule such as with band, upper level foreign language, etc.>>Not mentioned, but another graduation requirement is now in effect (Ethnic Studies)

Group 7(a): Awareness - counselors need to be more knowledgeableTeacher training on career explorationHow to embed career exploration and work based learning in the curriculumSome have Freshman seminar - but not all students take this elective, so some students miss this courseStarting earlier in career explorationCompeting commitments AP/IB/Honors

Not sure what group we are in: Getting past the gatekeepers to access key students and staff; Changing the perception of CTE that is only for non-college focused students

Room 2 - almost all of our discussed challenges were touched upon by other groups.

When in their school day are they using this platform? Is it part of a required course? Or is it provided for students but using it is optional?

Is this tool expandable to other regions? I see "free" which is GREAT, but I wanted to make sure what that means. Thank you!
