24:28
Please free to ask questions. put comments or links into the chat.

25:01
Thanks!!!

25:13
at the Strong Workforce Institute so can't do camera but I'm listening and present while at lunch break for this training

27:07
Is the MOU available? Can you share please?

31:26
can you share the power point presentation?

32:54
What training is required for faculty to obtain DE Certification?

34:14
Here is the ppt.

35:13
The PPT will also be available on the ASCCC website under this webinar (where you registered).

36:44
One of the challenges we’re facing in talking about Hyflex is faculty who see it as an opportunity to teach from home when they want to (not a student centric perspective)

39:49
It would be really cool to have one of these sessions be delivered from a classroom using an Owl so we could experience Hyflex as a student.

42:28
Wendy, are you saying that this Canvas course is the 1-hour online training?

42:32
Can you elaborate on FERPA a bit more? At SDCCE, we avoid broadcasting on campus HyFlex students to support student privacy.

42:38
This class is in canvas commons you can do a search for example dual delivery

43:21
This is an example course we link to from our training course

43:32
Thank you, Dr. Bass for sharing where people can find this Canvas course shell that Wendy Mazon is showing us

43:34
Thank you!

43:50
We had a similar question about FERPA Ingrid. If you email me I can send you our reply. dgreene@collegeofthedesert.edu

44:28
@Donna, thank you! I'll email you.

44:36
@Michelle, we can definitely do that one time!

45:14
@Moses, we have not come up against that since the expectation the faculty are in the class with their student.

45:16
We have hired student workers and trained them to use the owls rather than having students in the class do this extra work. We wanted them to focus on the course work.

46:17
@Jena - to be DE Certified in our district faculty take two four week trainings that are similar to ITC and IOTL, we personalized the content to our district and added some ADA and design assignments

46:26
Are the student leaders in the course as TAs?

46:46
Hooray Liquid Syllabus!

46:57
Shout out to Michelle Pacansky-Brock for teaching us how to create a liquid syllabus!

47:35

48:18
Love this tool.

49:01
Great idea!

49:04
Hi @Donna, Can I also email you to find out how you managed the FERPA issue?

50:08
@Raquel, sure!

50:45
For recording and privacy how does that work for students with disabilities needing auditory review. What accommodations are being provided?

50:45
Thank you

52:51
Example of Dual Delivery course- https://ilearn.laccd.edu/courses/186385

53:22
@Wendy, Thanks for sharing Canvas course!

53:23
👍🏼 Thank you Wendy!

56:16
What are the training requirements for becoming DE certified?

57:03
@Jena it is two four week classes configured similarly to @one ITC and IOTL, but with additions to our district needs

57:47
So when you play the music on the owl does also share into the zoom students experience

58:13
@Wendy, thanks!

58:24
That was going to be my first question!

58:36
@Tara- yes that is correct

58:55
How many classes are being taught dual delivery/HyFlex spring 2022 at Pierce?

59:41
ITC is Intro to Canvas. IOTL is Intro to Asynchronous Online Teaching & Learning.

59:43
I love @One!

01:00:01
YES!!!!

01:00:30
To find CVC/@ONE’s Online courses in Canvas Commons, search for OEI Adoptable.

01:00:44
@ONE loves all of you right back!

01:00:47
Those of you with hands up, feel free to add questions in the chat so that we can capture the questions/comments here as well! Thank you!

01:01:28
Did your district consider other types of devices, or was the Owly the only device considered for adoption?

01:01:35
How many faculty in total were trained in January?

01:01:50
My question is focused on attendance and what seems like some squishiness with the asynchronous option both for attendance accounting and student expectations

01:01:55
Does the Owly require a LAN connection, can it operate via WiFi?

01:01:57
I realize it's early. But, what sort of data have you been able to gather regarding the efficacy of your HyFlex courses? Enrollment, student success rates, student equity, persistence (beyond the HyFlex course), student satisfaction, faculty satisfaction, etc?

01:02:17
We are running a small pilot at College of the Desert with the OWLs and they are not really liking them. With masking the audio is muffled. How are they working for you?

01:02:52
Can the Owly deliver high resolution images to Zoomies so that whiteboard material or projected material (particularly text) be read remotely?

01:04:02
@Robert, that has not been our experience.

01:05:17
@Robert - the iPad works great for that

01:05:48
Here is the comment in our schedule of classes. HyFlex (Inperson and Zoom)ýStudents can participate in the scheduled lecture face to face inýthe classroom or online via ZOOM at the days/times/locationýspecified in the schedule of classes.

01:07:05
Thank you, Regina.

01:07:49
@Raquel - In my department, I didn't have enough enrollment (we're a really small department) to offer more than one section of a course in a term. Therefore, I couldn't offer a f2f section and an online/zoom session of the course. The only way I could do it was to offer it as HyFlex.

01:07:58
Are “Roomies” informed about the video recording prior to registration or are they first informed in the syllabus?

01:08:29
@Michelle it is in the notes when they register. Not ideal in that so many students don’t look at the notes

01:08:34
@Michelle - We put some of that information in the orientation letter that is posted on the campus website and some faculty put it in the syllabus.

01:10:14
Thanks, Wendy and Regina.

01:12:50
HyFlex would be dual-delivery plus asynchronous though, correct?

01:12:55
@Robert - the in person white board did not work that well for our specific classroom; thus, I opted to use the Wacom tablet (as my digital whiteboard), and this worked beautifully with the Owl-- I use "Wacom One"

01:13:01
DE coordinator-type folks: :-) … if we were to gather info about HyFlex (e.g. these slides), where would you find this info helpful over the long-term: ASCCC website or CCC DECO website?

01:13:29
@Kandace, yes!

01:13:49
Which location would make most sense?

01:14:37
DECO for me, but I can't speak to others' preferences.

01:16:14
Are instructors using Starfish early alert to help with student persistence?

01:16:17
Definitely DECO

01:16:27
@Laurie, we don’t have starfish 🙁

01:16:27
Thanks for feedback about what resources you’d like to see about HyFlex and where it’s most helpful for you to house it (online)

01:17:25
Robert, I think the answer to that first question about student experiences would be different for every student (just like classroom experiences are different for every student).

01:17:26
In our notes in the schedule: Class NotesThis class is taught on campus and students may attend either in person or online (DD: dual delivery) through Zoom.

01:18:17
👍🏼 Thank you Wendy!

01:18:18
Thanks to the Wendys!

01:18:25
Thank you all!

01:18:29
Thank you!

01:18:31
I had a lot of students that even through they attended in person would review recording and appreciate it.

01:18:31
Thanks all!

01:18:46
Thank you all. This was an excellent presentation.

01:18:50
Thank you!

01:18:59
Thank you

01:19:33
Thank you so much for the great info

01:19:39
Thank you!

01:19:43
can you share a link to the manufacturer's website for the Owl device?

01:20:04
✨Thank you Karen, Wendy Bass, and Wendy Mazon! This presentation was very valuable!

01:20:07
Amazon had OWL for $999.00

01:20:11
@ Robert: https://owllabs.com/products/meeting-owl-pro/

01:20:17
Thanks!

01:20:55
There are other tech options, but we chose OWL because of the ease of use https://owllabs.com/products/meeting-owl-pro/

01:24:49
That camera is an add on

01:25:23
The last I read, the add on camera cannot be used without the OWL

01:27:11
I'm in a similar situation like Tara

01:28:43
at Barstow college they made a classroom with built in cameras and mics. Not using OWL but I am interested in learning more

01:29:04
I would be interested in attending additional workshops/meetings. I am concerned that many of the courses we teach would not be good candidates for Hyflex in that students must use lab-based equipment.

01:29:22
Thank you!

01:29:36
chowkaren@fhda.edu,

01:29:48
✨This presentation was wonderful! Thank you!

01:29:52
Thank you so much Karen!!!
