jsims
24:43

jsims
24:51

How are the throughputs compared. What are the details of the cohorts being compared. Those who started in remediation vs those who started with direct placement into transfer
meryl siegal
36:43
How many per student? And how big are your classes?
Roberta Tragarz
39:31
More info about CoReq fatigue, please!!
Amber Buntin
40:04
Very interested in info about transitioning coreq classes online/remote!!
Erica Biely
42:56
@jsims at AHC, the throughput rate is two semesters. For students in the support course only, the throughput rate is 57%.
jsims
43:02
I missed it. The support courses for English are optional
jsims
43:08
and not tied to a specific course
meryl siegal
43:20
Support courses for English are optional in Porterville?
jsims
43:27
Got it thanks
VALERIE MERRILL
43:33
For math, what do you do for students that need Business Calculus? If they need extra help do they have an option rather than just failing or dropping to a below transfer level course?
jsims
44:03
Can you describe more the challenge exam and is that AB 705 compliant
Amber Buntin
45:25
And trig has a support course coreq?
VALERIE MERRILL
46:16
Do you still have a Trig course or is Pre-Calc the first transfer level course offered now?
Roberta Tragarz
47:47
Will you share these fun activities?
William Lombardi
48:25
In your experience, how necessary is it to have the same instructor teach the coreq course?
VALERIE MERRILL
52:08
Love that picture! HAHA
Amber Buntin
54:52
Chat room like canvas discussion forum?
Amber Buntin
54:58
Or?
William Lombardi
56:45
Thanks!

Meryl, the corequisite course is required for students with lower than a HS GPA of 1.9 (but the challenge is signing a waiver--a student can opt not to take the corequisite). The one-unit support courses (research, formatting, revising and editing) are completely optional.
Ian Onizuka
01:01:57
Students are put into our Trig/PreCalc class (6 units) if that is their appropriate placement. They are placed into the PreCalc I w/coreq if they do not meet the requirements for the Trig/PreCalc class.
Melissa Long
01:02:06
@jsims The one-unit short-term classes are optional. The corequisite isn't optional.
Ryan Barry-Souza
01:02:29
we also navigated away from pre-calc and replaced it with college algebra -> trig sequence, both transfer level.
Boglarka Kiss
01:02:36
Looks like Stat 150 is not transfer-level.
Ian Onizuka
01:02:46
PreCalc I is precalc without the trig. Upon completing that class they take PreCalc II (standalone Trig)
Amber Buntin
01:02:59
Do you have any metacognitive activities you are willing to share
Johansson Renee
01:03:39
Yes! I believe Corrine shared our Canvas shell publicly
Amber Buntin
01:04:22
Thanks!!!
VALERIE MERRILL
01:05:21
How are the instructors paid for the 0.5 unit 2 hours? Are they paid at lab rate or instructor rate?
Julie Von Bergen
01:07:17
What funding did PCC use to create the math videos in fall?
Amber Buntin
01:07:20
How do you navigate that free calc with online students?
Hintzman Linda
01:08:37
Fulltimers are Paid a lab rate, 0.75 of our regular hourly rate. Adjucnts are paid their regular hourly rate.
Amber Buntin
01:09:10
If you go all online in the fall do you plan to let students have access to this rental program ?
Nanda Jain
01:09:24
How I can see your canvas shell-
Hintzman Linda
01:09:50
Until now we don’t have any fully online classes. We have some hybrid sections, but the vast majority are totally face to face
Ian Onizuka
01:09:52
We are 100% AB705 compliant...we do not offer any courses below transfer-level. The student is challenging the coreq placement.
jsims
01:10:07
these are different workshops or all in one
Hintzman Linda
01:10:44
Yes, PCC hopes to continue to loan out the calculators. We are working on exactly how
jsims
01:10:52
who does the jit workshops
Johansson Renee
01:11:23
We have two full time math instructors working in the math success center who host them.
Amber Buntin
01:11:29
Awesome…we rent but for a small fee. So we are wondering about how to facilitate some form on that in the fall…should we have to go all online
Johansson Renee
01:11:49
We also have faculty volunteer for specific workshops that they are interested in hosting as well
