What is the governor doing in terms of covering CCC's cash flows? State wide TRANS?
Mike: Nothing announced at this juncture. The League, of course, has a TRAN program that districts may employ.
Are these cuts already included? Or are they going to occur later on if there's no federal funding?

Is the Governor and the Legislature willing to look at a mid year budget review and shift resources from UCs and CSUs with students that may also shift to CCCs?
We're already seeing an large increase of applicants and enrollments at our campuses across the state but the funding revise does not allow growth funding in this crucial time of student need. We need to advocate heavily for adequate funding to meet our increased basic student needs
What's the likelihood of federal action to reduce or eliminate these cuts?
What is the anticipated impact to the deficit should CA receive federal funding?
Gustavo: Depends upon one’s view that the Republican Controlled Senate and Democratically controlled House can negotiate an agreement that would then be signed by the president. It’s difficult to know.

How about, to offset cuts in absence of federal action, California raise a tax on the income or wealth of the top 1%?
Is there discussion to recommend zero funding for CalBright and
placing a hold on the entire SCFF.
Student Equity and Achievement program is proposed to have 15% reduction. SEA has been one of the major programs supporting equity work, now on top of the reduction, it is required to carry more on food pantry and undoc students. That would be mission impossible. Any strong advocacy to address this issue?
@Li Collier I had the same question, thank you.
Jonathan, thank you for acknowledging categorical programs, what you shared is very true!
I recognize the idea of looking at cuts to base relative to categorical programs; however, categorical programs serve our most vulnerable students.
Yes, Malia! And it is always barely enough.
Or I should say barely covers the bare necessities. Never any extras.
Will you have some advocacy talking points or information that we can support your efforts on the 20th and 21st?
can you discuss how the hold harmless provisions fit into the picture including whether there is a risk that the number of districts that must rely on it result in a deficit factor for all districts?
Is the California Community College Classified Senate not involved in the joint advocacy days?
I think there is a great opportunity here for the league to advocate more strongly on behalf of the ca cc classified senate, so that 4cs can help support the league in its advocacy for funding etc. we would be a very strong partner!
Thank you, Keri and VCCS. Of course! We welcome and need our 4CS partners in advocacy. Advocacy must occur throughout the next 2-3 weeks, so May 20-21st is by now means the totality of our advocacy.
Thank you, Jonathan! Good point about localizing the message! Welcome to the community college family, Andrew!
Thank you Larry! we want to help! but we need the league to help us strengthen our voice!
I second Thuy's comments Jonathan..
The League will distribute Talking Points very soon. Your communication and advocacy with your locally-elected state legislators is essential to effective advocacy.
Tap Classified Senate = Strength in Numbers!
Would be great to have artwork and videos we can include in twitter and facebook posts.
Adrienne: The League is working on this
Thank you Thuy and John. Wonderful to be back and helping. We're in terrible times and we'll be doing all we can to secure the resources to keep going.
So everyone is aware, there are many different coalition efforts. We're doing all we can to harness as many organizations on joint letters and messaging.
Are there talking points/fact sheets/sample letters on ACA 5, AB 2019 and SB 1173?
I encourage everyone to visit the Budget Resource Center on the League's website which has all the relevant items on the budget in reverse chronological order, https://www.ccleague.org/advocacy/budget-analysis-and-issue-briefs
what is a way to stand in solidarity with AB3310 in principle? while considering a positive impact on the students? and staff?
