??? Erin, it’s great that the DE surveys are being done regularly now. Is there any chance though of revisiting the survey design? I know a lot of folks feel they are overly long. They may be a bit dated too…

Erin hi there - maybe I am late to this, but can you all clarify why they are looking for a CEO? Wouldn’t this be a chancellor or a dean etc.? It sounds so corporate - is this a not-for-profit?

Accreditation requires a CEO - so it can't be a dean
In all our reports to the Chancellor’s Office, we always refer to CEO, CIO, CSSO, etc

Wendy, Financial Aid is also a federal thing. They have no requirement about that.

CA is the only entity to have a regulation now about student-student interaction. It would have to be a CA state government audit, like what was done last fall regarding accessibility.

Does this mean that the accrediting team has to have teacher access in the precious semester. In canvas, once a course closes, we cannot add any visitors or even instructors to that class. So unless we get a list, we would have to change the end date on every class that to add the accrediting team to the shells
?however even though we know there are flaws, portal login and password will suffice for number 2
Is user name and password enough to authenticate students?
There have been dings for authentication when online classes were found that just had students going straight to a publisher website and not through the college system, and didn’t have any other approved methods of authentication …
——But I wonder if that ding would occur now that they are saying to “disregard the outliers”
How do you let students in to work out incompletes (if you close classes at the end of the term)?
I don't think you answered--is that going to be teacher access to our classes?
It could be "evaluator" access maybe?

OR change the end date of the class so we can let the student still access it. But it involves individually doing this for each course

@Kenley how do you allow access to inbox?
That’s important for everyone to keep in mind (at least for me!). It’s only 100% fully online sections. We discussed this at DEETAC last year sometime.
@Alice they don’t get access to InBox. It’s just like email communications. If the team asks for samples of student to instructor communication we then ask for it from the instructor.

For auditing online courses, would there be any philosophical problem with the team accessing all the courses using the colleges test environment of Canvas vs. production environment? Test should include all the course data that is in production, only it's about 3 weeks behind. But, that probably wouldn't matter to a team looking at a prior term's courses.
Your Financial Aid Director is responsible for updating that information as things change
So, at my school - people are confused about what constitutes a ‘program.’ The certificate or degree is understood for the 50% rule, but what constitutes a program please.
@Bob - we thought of that but not all colleges would understand how to do that
so is each instructor allowed to provide their specific activites
Side note: A faculty member’s email is not private. Anything can get a freedom of information request. ;-)
I just want to clarify, that if a “program” let’s say a degree in psych, is 60 units, and if 50% or more of those courses are approved to be online (GE and Major, and Elective courses) then you would fill out a substantive change for good for 5 years for the entire campus and any future programs that would fall under the same category within the 5 years?

If a program has already been included in a sub change, even though it was more “DE by Default” at the time, but now it is really being marketed as a 100% online program, is there a need for any additional sub change approval?

Most of our degrees can be completed 50% or more online because of GE. Even Art Studio reaches that threshold.

We put all DE programs through approval but now we are considering preparing programs that can be done 100% online. None of these are coorespondence ed, guaranteed. In these cases do we file each program as its own separate substantive change form or maintain the full campus together?
For the record: When you add a new program that is fully online is when we need to submit to ACCJC.
Standard IIA16 askes whether we have programs fully online. Does it mean 50% or line or fully online?
It’s important because of all the changes in sub changes that have occurred since Richard came on board
Last question - what if a department suddenly has 80% of their classes offered online? But they don’t offer a degree or certificate?
