The Canvas Commons courses based on OpenStax texts were developed by the CCC OEI

01:07:32
yes, Moreno Valley College

01:07:35
yes, both my campuses use CANVAS

01:07:40
yes, miramar just started Canvas this semester

01:08:31
Search “CCC OEI” there to see all the OpenStax-based courses

01:09:31
Nope. We use sandboxes too

01:09:53
Definitely use a sandbox as a landing place for stuff from commons, then copy into courses

01:10:03
I didn't even know about this. It is a great idea to share information between instructors

How do you know if an author has made their published material part of the public domain?

01:18:46
Not really, just curious. Lisa covered that with the link and digging. Thanks!

01:26:10
:)

01:27:42
For Ebsco-- simultaneous access is unlimited as long as students open up the PDF and send chapters to themselves, then close their browser. However, if they check it out and download it (through their EBSCO account), it's blocked for a day until it self-returns.

01:27:53
I have heard that eBook multi-user licenses can be very expensive

01:28:06
What if a student (not an instructor) shares their ebook with other students? Should it be the instructor’s responsibility to avoid that?

01:28:08
Like orders of magnitude more than ordering multiple paper copies

01:28:17
My comment is regarded Ebsco eBooks.

01:30:52
Yes - my comment was about fiction titles specifically. Tricky for trying to make English classes ZTC.

01:31:54
We don't have very many ebooks :)

01:32:01
But nope, not an issue that we know of

01:32:40
ZTC IS ZTC … regardless of 1359. LOL

01:32:47
:)

01:33:36
My students can download their ebooks so then sharing a file among them is pretty easy. Thanks for answering!

01:35:37
ZTC is ZTC! Yes Jim!

01:41:18
Specifically - if I am incorporating some OER material in a Canvas module - where do I put the attribution??

01:41:20
Thank you. I learned a lot! I will see you nect week for the anatomy OER. I am looking forward to it!

01:41:29

01:42:18

01:42:59
