Is there no sound?
msl
13:52
i was thinking the same thing?
Aloha Sargent
13:56
Hi Ruth! I don't think there is any sound yet
Aloha Sargent
14:25
Hi Ron!
Ruth Moon
14:27
I can hear you now
Leslie Palmer
14:30

14:57
Hello

14:59
Hello
Celina Lee
15:21
Hello!
ame Maloney
15:24
Good morning
Sarah Bosler
16:27
Hi! I can only stay until 10a but I'm here! :)
Dan Crump
19:15
Yes, the first time I saw DFW was Dallas Fort Worth Airport!
Dan Crump
20:37
Shout out to Cynthia Orozco who is on the ASCCC Guided Pathways Task Force!
Aloha Sargent
20:56
Cynthia is amazing!
Dan Crump
23:12
But I would welcome dialogue for a discussion on whether we should be considered to be the experts on copyright. Yes, we know about it (especially because of all the copying done in libraries by students), but I question whether we are the experts.
Aloha Sargent
24:34
@Dan - I wish my campus had a copyright expert that I could point faculty to!
Dan Crump
25:04
Re: BOG Vision for Success. There are those stats out there like that 50% of students have dropped a class because of textbook costs. Hopefully, OER should (dare I say?) eliminate that statistic!
Dan Crump
25:50
And we have the stories (just recently in Sac Bee) that students have to choose between food for their kids and textbooks.
Dan Crump
26:23
I just want to slap those UCLA professors' faces! (and not just because I am an USC grad)
Brooke Ramos
27:08
I'm a UCLA grad and I want to slap their faces too (as someone who is still paying off those textbooks)
Dan Crump
27:26
Online CTE programs with OER. Is that with the CA Online Comm College (college 115)?
Aloha Sargent
28:09
https://cvc.edu/pathwaysgrant/
Aloha Sargent
28:23
It's a CVC-OEI grant
Dan Crump
29:21
Aloha, thanks so much.
ame Maloney
30:06
Access Codes operate under the assumption that ALL students have reliable computer and internet access on & off campus

Project management is a big one
Cynthia Orozco
41:41
@Dan&Aloha-thank you and likewise! (Apologies for late reply, was driving!) Have to run off to the next thing, but thank you so much, Ron!
Aloha Sargent
42:05
Bye Cynthia!
elle dimopoulos
43:36
The MLIS at UW has a new social justice core component which covers OER in depth
Kelsey Smith
44:18
Nice!
Alison Finch
45:02
Good for UW, Elle!

https://crln.acrl.org/index.php/crlnews/article/view/17663 article from College & Research Library News "An open impediment: Navigating copyright and OER publishing in the academic library."
Dan Crump
46:27
Kudo to Kelsey Smith, OER librarian at WHCL!
Kelsey Smith
46:41
:)
Dan Crump
50:51
Sometimes the frustrating thing is that classroom faculty think OER means that I am asking them to write their own textbook!
Aloha Sargent
51:19
Does anyone offer stipends to faculty for training and/or OER adoption? If so, how much?
Kelsey Smith
51:50
We do! $3500, but they have to do quite a bit of deliverables to get the money. Including OEI rubric review and all that jazz
Kelsey Smith
52:12
No stipends for just adopting though
Aloha Sargent
52:36
Thanks, Kelsey! I'm trying to come up with a SEA funding request...
ame Maloney
52:46
We do, too. $1000 to revise/remix + ancillary materials; $3000 to author. Also deliverables similar to the ZTC grant deliverables
Aloha Sargent
54:02
Thanks, Ame! I'd like to do something similar with different levels of funding
Kelsey Smith
54:03
I think those are better amounts, to be honest. 3500 is a bit much. I prefer a sort of sliding scale depending on how much work they put into it.
Aloha Sargent
54:19
Yes! A sliding scale
Kelsey Smith
54:40
I guess our BO couldn't do a sliding scale. So we just have that one amount
ame Maloney

Aloha Sargent
55:32
Oooooh, love this Ame.
Kelsey Smith
55:38
Very nice, Ame! Getting ideas...
ame Maloney
55:39
Of note, we offer a textbook conversion level ($500) - but have had 0 applicants
Aloha Sargent
56:23
Interesting! I was wondering about $500 for maybe, doing some kind of OER training
ame Maloney
57:19
We’ve been migrating OER training into Flex Day Workshops which do provide $ for those training hours
Micaela Agyare
57:43
I've been asked to be the college admin for the OER Commons. Anyone in that role and can tell me what it involves?
Dan Crump
58:27
Sacramento City College (for Los Rios District) and Los Medanos (for the Contra Costa District) are sub-awardees for the federal grant that UC Davis (Delmar Larsen and Libre Text) received.
Aloha Sargent
58:47
@Micaela: I think all OER Liaisons and DE coordinators were added as OER Commons admins. As far as I know, we don't have to do anything....
Aloha Sargent
58:57
I think it just gives us access?
Dan Crump
58:59
Coordination---that is so much what we need!
ame Maloney
59:30
VRC: http://visionresourcecenter.cccco.edu/
Micaela Agyare
59:54
@Aloha. Thanks! I was wondering where that request came from - I am the OER Liaison so that answers it!
Kelsey Smith
01:00:46
There will be more materials in here after June when the final ZTC grantees finish up their degrees
Aloha Sargent
01:03:27
hi!
ame Maloney
01:04:01
It’s amazing :) So well done!
Dan Crump
01:04:02
mantion about SEA program---I am going to do that right away and that sounds like something that I will also mention on the CCL listserv!
Aloha Sargent
01:04:24
Thanks! Yes, it will go into Canvas Commons
msl
01:04:54
awesome!
Dan Crump
01:06:20
Is the ASCCC looking at putting together a communication program?
Aloha Sargent
01:06:47
Does anyone have any language to share about what they are requesting to have added to SEA plan?
Kelly Meadow
01:07:23
You may have already mentioned this, as I joined a little late. But did you mention Lumen Learning? Wondering if anyone has knowledge or perspective on that. Just curious. Thanks!
Aloha Sargent
01:07:46
thanks!
Kelly Meadow
01:08:25
thanks.
Aloha Sargent
01:10:16
It's a great way to share
Dan Crump
01:10:20
Example---I would like to find out from CCCs on what they consider the dollar amount for low-cost materials (I usually hear $40). But the most comprehensive thing I can think of right now is go on the CCCOER listserv and state that it is a question just for CA Community Colleges at this time. Might ask the ZTC listserv or the ASCCC OERI Liaison listserv.
Dan Crump
01:11:25
just one more thing on the list of friday things-to-do!
Aloha Sargent
01:11:34
would love to have a group specifically for CCC librarians who are working on OER. A place for us to share and discuss
Aloha Sargent
01:12:14
sounds great!
Alison Finch
01:12:42
Really valuable. Thanks to all!
Dan Crump
01:12:47
Ron, thank you for all the work you have done on all of this!!!!
Ginny Evans-Perry
01:12:49
Yes, that would be helpful -- at least 2 of us here are working and interested in this. thanks, Ginny
Aloha Sargent
01:12:54
Thank you, Ron!
ame Maloney
01:13:08
Thank you Ron!
Celina Lee
01:13:10
