Hello! :-)

58:04
Hello

01:02:49
We're getting some odd background noises - is someone un-muted?

01:03:22
I don't think so. Maybe it's background noise in her office?

01:05:38
Is there a handout or a slide with the details that she is verbally communicating?

01:05:43
That figure (12.5K Cal students enrolled in ASU online) is remarkable. Do we have access to any of those figures, such as the success rates she mentioned?

01:05:44
I would like to see more effort to explain the new online college model more clearly. I see many people speaking out against it but without really understanding what it is designed to do (and isn’t)

01:06:48
The VC has asked that we hold the slides. I will advance them during questions.

01:06:53
Isn’t ASU Online the program that Starbucks funds for their employees?

01:07:20
@Kenley - it is (was?)

01:07:33
I know that ASU has some great coach programs for online students to be successful; I wish we could do half of what they do in terms of student support. It’s huge for students.

01:07:45
Has your team gathered data that answers this basic question: If we build it, will they come? Do these prospective students want this option? If we offer it, will they be willing and able to attend? Is there sufficient demand among potential 'stranded' students to make this new college successful? What these potential students want and need may be different. Is this what your future focus groups will determine?

01:08:03
I agree. I'm hoping if they go ahead with the 115th that the folks at the top are open to innovation like that

01:08:28
what title 5 barriers is the new school designed to address/circumvent?

01:09:19
How can we get involved?

01:09:55
??? What are the three pathways you mentioned?

01:09:58
ccconlinecollege.org

01:10:00
Following up on the Title 5 barriers, as that is very specific, I heard that accreditation may not come through ACCJC. Can you discuss?

01:10:01

01:13:54
Our faculty are confused about whether 115 will be not-for-credit, or if the classes will be credit-bearing. Has this been decided?

01:15:13
When will those support roles be hired? Will there be full time and adjunct faculty hired soon?

01:15:45
@Tera, a better question will be “will there be any FT faculty?

01:16:41
The success coach has “howdy duties.” :-)

01:17:44
I think ASU outsources the coaches to a firm in Oregon.

01:19:47
Have to get the budget passed first. :-)

01:21:02
It seems like credit vs. not-for-credit is a big deal since the curriculum governance processes are different, and since it will be harder to convince faculty that 115 is complementary and not competitive with current colleges if 115’s classes are credit-bearing.

01:21:53
@Jim - Credit or noncredit is “still to be determined.” Also depends on our “accreditation pathway.” So fascinating.

01:23:13
@Jim - I haven't heard anything to suggest that they will be strictly non-credit

01:23:23
@Kenley, yeah, that’s what I’m hearing too, but it seems like promises are being made about things like governance and competition with current colleges that will really depend on those choices.

01:24:11
what title 5 barriers is the new school designed to address/circumvent?

01:24:40
@Lisa - sees question from @Kandace, she had the Title 5 questions. Mine was on accreditation.

01:25:26
@Kandace - can you be more specific about your question?

01:25:27
The 2.5 million is based on census data, right?

01:27:34
the trailer bill language includes specific references to alterations in title 5, especially relating to credit hour, etc…

01:28:21
Thank you @Kandace :)

01:32:29
Yes, thank you

01:34:24
Thanks for all the great questions, everyone. And look forward to some more good discussion about this at the retreat!

01:39:29
Got my verification. Thank you LeBaron and team!

01:40:17
We're looking forward to it!

01:40:42
And we appreciated it!

01:42:11
Can someone paste the link in the chat

What is the status of getting CA to participate in SARA?

01:44:17

01:44:36
@Cathy - I understand it won't happen this year :(

01:45:38
I think the Refund policy is required in the college catalog, so that should be coverd

01:47:54
@Lisa, Do we post these slides on DECO site?

01:48:02
Or email to the list?

01:48:06
I will work on that

01:48:10
That would be super helpful. :-)

01:48:15
:)

01:48:21
Thank you. I got another call now. Bye

01:48:33

01:48:38
