A good SLDS would help current efforts by leading to: 1) better, evidence-based direct articulation f/K12 to HigherEd reducing unnecessary and ineffective required repetition of previously completed courses 2) reduce credit loss between segments and institutions of higher ed, 3) help identify students who should have been recruited into higher ed/mitigate summer melt or just melt generally from K12 to higher ed and to reveal regions, districts, and high schools that are being underserved by higher ed, 4) reduce the need for things like moving mass data back and from National Student Clearinghouse (at a cost and to receive less than useful data files back) to accomplish something that should be as straightforward as reverse transfer…
John Hetts
04:25:37
In sum: the SLDS should make things work better for _students_.
John Hetts
04:26:34
Warm data can accomplish a lot for these purposes.
John Hetts
04:29:22
Hi Jake!
Tessa De Roy
04:34:48
Would be happy to.
John Hetts
04:35:23
So an effective SLDS would be a zombie? It has the critical outward facing appearance that’s hot and live but is cold on the inside?
Erica Menchaca
04:43:36
If you are able, you are welcome to join in the conversation by voice as well.

FERPA explicitly permits the transfer of student information between institutions at the point of application.

Wish CDE would agree with that. We have had som many issues with them transfering student data for EAP purposes....
John Hetts
05:05:58
CTE Pathways should be available as would the HS. They’re not demographic variables - they’re just CalPADS variables. It does rely on HS districts correctly populating the Career Technical Educational Pathway codes…
Carolina Cardenas
05:27:31
I think with Catalina Cifuentes at CDE now, there may be new opportunities for their involvement
John Hetts
